Under the direction of the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant is responsible for supporting the development and evaluation of specific program M&E needs to ensure the quality, and effectiveness of program implementation. The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant will help the Community Development staff in Uganda in developing performance monitoring plans and results frameworks during program design and implementation, creating M&E system, processes, and tools, contributing to measuring, analyzing, and reporting results. This position requires that the person relocate/reside at Yumbe-West Nile-Uganda. The position requires travel to remote locations within the respective regions to support the implementation of the WASH aspects at all levels.

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant is responsible for:
General Responsibilities:
• Maintaining a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership to colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.

• Lead and participate in Biblically-based staff devotions
• Effectively communicate the mission and scope of Water Mission to various audiences.
Key duties and responsibilities
Under Monitoring and Evaluation
• Work closely with the M&E Officer to ensure presence of a robust monitoring plan, develop monitoring and evaluation guidelines, frameworks, and indicators for the project implementation.
• Lead and assist M&E Officer in conducting regular data review meetings at the field office noting the actionable points and lessons learnt.
• Update and provide data and information to the program managers and staff on request.
• Participate actively in enforcing of data and report quality assurance, quality control and quality improvement measures for all field programs intervention.
• Conduct routine data quality audits to identify and resolve systemic problems affecting data quality; and document findings from data quality audits and store in project files to ensure collective and sustainable access.
• Support the program staff in their routine activities by participating in facilitating and documentation.
• Design and review data collection tools and databases required by the program staff for aggregation and analysis of information and take lead in conducting baseline and endline surveys.
• Conduct routine field monitoring visits and document learnings and share lessons.
• Work with program staff to ensure that data is collected and entered in databases and/or tracking sheets, and/or the data platform on a regular basis.
• Compile and consolidate monthly, quarterly, mid-year and annual reports on timely manner.

Education Qualification and Experience:
• The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Social Science, or any relevant discipline.
• Two years of working experience in a similar position with a local or international NGO
• Postgraduate training in M&E or Statistics is an added advantage.
Skills & Abilities
• Computer Literacy with knowledge and experience in data management and analysis using MS Excel, SPSS, Water surveyor, Kobo collect, Survey CTO and STATA is required.
• Good presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Team-oriented, possesses a positive attitude and works well with others.
• Flexible and willing to travel to the field as required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and feedback constructively.
